We asked River to be our celebrant as we didn't feel a traditional wedding ceremony was right for us. We wanted to integrate our own ideas about marriage and connect this with nature and community. We had no idea where to begin! We first met with River on a autumnal afternoon where we sat discussing our lives, relationship and thoughts on the day itself. it was informal and guided by River's expert facilitation. During this time River was able to draw out the key ideas which were of most importance to us and creatively bring this together with her knowledge and understanding of community celebrations, ancient forms of union and hand fasting. The final result was a day which was entirely unique, authentic to who we are as a couple and grounded in the things that mattered most to us. The ceremony itself was fluid and faultless. It had warmth and humour as well deep feeling, all of which I think are testimony to the way River is able to facilitate and hold space. To put it simply, it was perfect. It was perfect because of River and the time and dedication she put into creating a ceremony inline with what we had imagined. We will be forever grateful.
